If I had to describe this trip, I’d call it absolutely chaotic. Questionable decisions were made, mixed in with absolutely ZERO research (not a norm for us) and filled with a lot of waiting and moving around. But eventually we had some great experiences, and tried something totally new!

Before I talk more about our Philippines 🇵🇭 adventure with Sujit and Ankit, I’d like to chat about how we cheated a bit and took a layover in Malaysia 🇲🇾 of about 10h - and since all of us are a bit unhinged we decided that it’d be a great idea to enter Malaysia at around 21:00 and somehow make it to the KL Tower and come back before our flight leaves the next morning.

In this new reality where A.I. is being pushed onto developers by their ~~masters~~ C-Suites in the hopes of boosting short-term productivity - the foundations of tomorrow are being built by clueless coasters leveraging AI. Your average joe ships code watching companies profit every year while still also sees that their co-workers are getting laid off. Can yo blame them for being coasters? Where maximising shareholder value is the only ultimate goal for modern software shops.

Recently, the youtube algorithm has proven fruitful, and it has sucessfully turned me into an information hogging goblin. This all started when I stumbled upon a podcast called startalk hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson. While listening to this it reignited my lost appetite for science and physics. Refreshing on the topics like parallel universes, general and special relativity and string theory.

I remember during my freshman year of engineering we ~~studied~~ tried to study time dilation and length contraction, didn’t go well obviously so I tried to understand it more deeply and eventually made peace with my limited understanding of the subject, like I get it but I really don’t.

Why Kazakhstan?

Tbh, I didn’t even know Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 existed. One of my dear friend Sujit discovered what Central-Asia was, when one of his co-workers moved abroad to Uzbekistan 🇺🇿.

It looked beautiful judging by the photos on the internet, and we were planning to visit some place outside India 🇮🇳 for quite a long time. Sujit stumbled upon Kazakhstan while researching about Central-Asia, to our surprise it was Visa-Free. Today I found out something amazing

So I opened my discord, as one does when they get on their computer. And there was a prompt saying press Shift + ESC. I couldn’t read what it was for, but I decided to give it a shot thinking it must be some newly added feature.

Am I over-reacting? How many people know about this?

Recently I came across a number of people being worried about 5G. They weren’t tech-savy or tech-literate.

Realising how dangerous it could be — when certain platforms can influence essentially a large portion of our community without being held accountable, since no one can really moderate the entire internet.

I know the majority of people aren’t super-familiar with tech. Nor can expect everyone to go out of their way to gather the right information and get it verified.

A simple way to find installed games' uPlay IDs with python

First we need to find where and how ubisoft keeps track of the games installed by uPlay.

After some digging and asking around, I was able to find that there are two ways of acquiring this data.

First way :: extracting info from folders

uPlay makes these folders, which are named after the uplayID itself

C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\data

The names of the folders are the uPlay IDs of the installed games
